Waiting (and more waiting)

Ok, I have been really bad about updating our adoption blog lately. This is mainly due to the fact that we are still waiting. There really has not been much to share.

Many things have changed in Ethiopia in the past couple months. The things that are changing are ultimately the best thing for the children of Ethiopia. However, as a waiting adoptive parent they add to the wait.

The Ethiopian Government is going to review the files for adoption in a more detailed way. This should help prevent some of the unethical behaviors that may be occuring within Ethiopian Adoption. One agency has already been closed down.

The Ethiopian Government has stated that they will process court cases received prior to March 8th quickly. However, after that the processing will slow down. Our adoption will be subject to slowdown. All official statments note that they will process 5 letters per day and there are reports they processed up to 50 per day previously. The letters produced are needed for various stages of adoption process.

We are thankful that we are dealing with an ethical agency. They have been in Ethiopia for a long time prior to when Ethiopia became a "popular adoption destination". We also thankful for the Ethiopian Government for taking measures to ensure that each adoption is conducted in an ethical manner.

Please pray for the children of Ethiopia who are waiting to come home to their forever families and the Ethiopian Government as they develop new adoption processes.

A great scripture someone shared:

"But these things I plan won't happen rightaway. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, be patient! For it will surely takeplace. It will not be late by a single day." Habakkuk 2:3
